19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet defended four early break points in a tight final set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
